Plain-language notice for students, parents, and teachers using this pilot.
When a student signs up: their name, email address, and password (stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text). When a student submits work: a recording of them explaining their thinking out loud, a text transcript of that recording, and an image of their whiteboard sketch.
The recording, transcript, and whiteboard image are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate personalized feedback on the student's reasoning. The teacher sees each submission and class-wide summaries of how their students are doing. Nothing here is used for advertising, and nothing is sold to anyone.
The student's own teacher(s) can see their submissions, transcripts, and recordings. Other students never see another student's work. Anthropic processes each submission to generate feedback; per Anthropic's API terms, data sent through the API isn't used to train their models.
Submissions are kept until a teacher deletes a student's account, at which point everything tied to that student — every submission, recording, and whiteboard image — is permanently deleted. There's currently no automatic expiration, so a request is the way to have data removed.
A student, parent, or guardian can ask their teacher at any time to delete the student's account. This is permanent and cannot be undone.
